The little blue man

At the base of the turbines of the Arrighi power station in Vitry-sur-Seine, which went into service in 1932 and was the most powerful and modern in France at the time, a man in blue overalls and a cap is clearly in charge, despite his small size, underscored by the machines. In a sketch of the Spirit, Dufy had put his signature there. Is this a kind of self-portrait of the artist? Is the artist not the conductor of this great machine? Or is it a discreet tribute to the worker and the world of work?
